On 13 May 2024, the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (FPS) Technical Working Group, led by Senior Science Research Specialist from the Standards and Testing Division (STD), and Chairperson of ITDI GFPS TWG, Mr. Admer Rey C. Dablio, organized the Divisional Seminar on Safe Spaces Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for Environment and Biotechnology (EBD) employees.

In celebration of Pride Month (June), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (FPS) organized the “Webinar on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC)” on 28 June 2024 via Zoom. Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, Director and Chairperson of the GFPS, delivered her welcome remarks and emphasized the misconceptions about SOGIESC and the Institute's commitment to serve its stakeholders with utmost respect and gratitude regardless of their SOGIESC.

On 26 March 2024, ITDI GFPS, led by Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, concluded Women's Month by awarding the winners of the Women's Month Photography Contest. In her welcome remarks, Dr. Briones acknowledged all ITDI employees for their collaborative efforts in the success of Women's Month at the Institute.

On March 21, 2024, the ITDI GAD Focal Point System conducted a "Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines Training Workshop" at the STD Conference Room. Dr. Janet F. Quizon, OIC of the Office of the Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services, graced the activity. In her welcome remarks, she emphasized ITDI's commitment to becoming a gender-responsive institute through the conduct of capacity-building activities like this.

On 11 March 2024, the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (FPS) Technical Working Group, led by Senior Science Research Specialist from the Standards and Testing Division (STD), and Chairperson of ITDI GFPS TWG, Mr. Admer Rey C. Dablio, organized the Divisional Seminar on Safe Spaces Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for Administrative Division (ADM) and Financial Management Division (FMD) employees.

On 01 March 2024, DOST-ITDI participated in the DOST-Wide Kick-Off Activity of National Women's Month. DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. led the opening program. Various activities organized by the DOST Central Office were actively participated in by ITDI employees, such as the parade, wherein colorful floats designed by the attached agencies were displayed. Attires developed and produced by DOST-PTRI were also presented during the event, and the highlight of the event was the DOST GAD Bazaar, wherein various SETUP beneficiaries showcased their products.

With the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas; Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!”, DOST-ITDI kicked off this year's National Women's Month Celebration on 29 February 2024. Various ITDI employees marched around the ITDI vicinity wearing advocacy shirts expressing support for the celebration. ITDI's Gender and Development (GAD) Technical Working Group (TWG) Chairperson Mr. Admer Rey C. Dablio, led the event together with the Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services, Dr. Janet F. Quizon, and Deputy Director for Research and Development, Dr. Christine Marie C. Montesa in attendance.

Last December 12, 2023, ITDI staffs participated in the Institute's Culminating Activity of the 18-day campaign to End VAW, organized by the ITDI GFPS TWG led by Deputy Director for ATS, Dr. Zorayda V. Ang. Representatives from each ITDI division sang songs of their choice as they performed gracefully in front of ITDI personnel. The event was made more festive because of the Christmas caroling performance of the Canossa-Tondo Children's Foundation Inc. Rondalla Choir.

The objective of the performance review is to evaluate the accomplishments of the Institute’s gender mainstreaming based on the identified GAD activities, performance indicators, and targets of the ITDI GAD Plan and Budget for 2023.

ITDI personnel commenced the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) 2023 by wearing their advocacy shirts and displaying advocacy umbrellas. Deputy Director for ATS and ITDI GFPS TWG Chairperson, Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, and the GAD Secretariat facilitated the event.

The Safe Spaces Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) awareness seminar were conducted for STD employees. The Gender and Development (GAD) activity was organized by the ITDI GAD Focal Point System (FPS) Technical Working Group (TWG) led by Deputy Director for ATS, Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, as part of the year-long capacity development for all ITDI personnel regarding the law.

In a captivating display of gender and development (GAD), the ITDI GAD Culminating Activity set the stage at the Century Park Hotel Manila on November 29, 2023. Themed “Pagkakapantay-pantay sa Agham, Sining, at Komunidad,” this event was more than a culmination –– it was a celebration of accomplishments, recognition, and commitment to GAD objectives.

Distinguished resource speaker, Ms. Monette S. Santos, an independent GAD consultant and a member of the National GAD Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) shared her expertise of the law and expounded on the context of RA 11861 and RA 8972 (Solo Parents Welfare Act) by comparing the scope of applicability and benefits coverage between the two laws.

On 28 September 2023, the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Technical Working Group (TWG) led by Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, organized the GFPS Functionality Assessment Tool (GFAsT) Training Workshop held at the Almanzor Hall, National Metrology Division (NMD).

The aim of the Gender Mainstreaming Evaluation is to assess the gender mainstreaming targets vis-à-vis accomplishments of the project using the set of criteria based on the Planning Implementation, Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PIMME) checklist. The use of the PIMME checklist aims to ensure the sustainability of gender mainstreaming during the implementation up until the completion of the project.

As part of the personnel development program of the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) for 2023, the ITDI GAD Focal Point System (FPS) Technical Working Group (TWG) organized the "In-Depth Training Workshop on Gender Analysis and Tools", led by Deputy Director and Chairperson of ITDI GFPS TWG Dr. Zorayda V. Ang on 18 May 2023 held at the Metrology Conference Room of NMD.

In line with the Women's Month 2023 theme: Gender Equality and Inclusive Society, representatives from various ITDI division regardless of their job position gracefully sang the song of their choice as they performed in an Open Mic Karaoke Concert in front of the ITDI personnel.

With the theme, " WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society", DOST-ITDI kicked off this year's National Women's Month Celebration on March 1, 2023. Gathering in front of the ITDI's Metrology Building with their shirts expressing support for the celebration, ITDI’s Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services and Gender and Development Chair Dr. Zorayda V. Ang led the event together with the Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones. Also with the members of the DOST-ITDI GAD Technical Working Group and other ITDI staff.

ITDI GFPS Assessment of the Institute's Gender Mainstreaming Accomplishments for 2022

The objective of the performance review is to evaluate the accomplishments of the Institute's Gender Mainstreaming for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 based on the identified GAD activities, performance indicators, and targets of the ITDI GPB 2022.

In line with the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) 2022, the Industrial Technology and Development Institute (ITDI) supports the #VowToEndVAW.

Led by DOST-ITDI’s Director and GAD Champion, Dr.Annabelle V. Briones, together with Deputy Director for ATS, and ITDI GFPS TWG Chairperson, Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, and Deputy Director for R&D, Dr. Christine Marie C. Montesa, various ITDI personnel gathered at the ITDI Metrology Building to show their support to the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women by wearing the advocacy shirt, and posing the #EndVAW pose.

ITDI staff gathered at the Metrology Building to commence the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) this 2022. With the theme “UNited for a VAW-Free Philippines”, the campaign aims to highlight the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines.

Participants of the GAD Planning Workshop were capacitated on the significance of conducting Gender Analysis and Project Stakeholders Profiling cycle as well as providing comprehensive means of verification when accomplishing the Project Design and Project Implementation, and Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PIMME) Checklist.

The ITDI GAD Training/Capability Building Program featured several livelihood training courses on food including calamansi processing, coco lumpia and coco lumpia-burger production, ham making, and liquid handwash and hand sanitizer production. It aimed to provide select stay at home housewives and other womenfolk, youth, and other groups of the Taguig City Diocese knowledge and skills to enable them to startup or expand small businesses at home.

As culminating activity for 2022 Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) Capacity Building Webinars, the ITDI GAD Focal Point System (FPS) Technical Working Group (TWG) led by Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services and Chairperson of ITDI GFPS TWG Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, conducted a Gender Analysis and Tools Training which was held on 06 October 2022, to capacitate the Institute’s personnel especially the project leaders, researchers, and implementers the significance of conducting gender analysis in project research.

Congratulations to Mr. Christian D. Laurio, RCh, of the National Metrology Division, a member of the TEAM DARNA ((Detection of Anomaly in OFW Recruitment Posts thru ARtificial NeurAl Network) which won the Best Use of Data Science out of 15 submitted projects by the Qualified Teams in the recently concluded Dataquest 2022: Gender Responsive Labor Migration Hackathon.

Distinguished keynote speaker, Mr. Philip Amiel Lopez, Planning Officer lll from the Commission on Population and Development and member of the GAD Resource Pool, gave the talk about solo parenthood. Mr. Lopez expounded the context of the RA 8972 or the Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2000 and its implementing rules and regulations, before defining what and who a solo parent is. He then gave a comprehensive explanation on the provisions for solo parents, in which he highlighted the provision of the solo parent ID, the documentary requirements needed, and the process for application. Mr. Lopez also gave a short overview of the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.

Two keynote speakers from the Women Business Council  Philippines (WomenBizPH), an advocacy group composed of the country’s top women business leaders and entrepreneurs, which seeks to promote women-led and women-owned enterprises through networking and through the use of technology, were invited to deliver the requested topics. Ms. Mylene Abiva, chairperson of WomenBizPH, discussed how Innovation and Market Participation Transform Women's Lives.

Gender Sensitization of DOST-ITDI

Ms. Christine De Leon, a Local Government Operations Officer VI of DILG-Bulacan, and a GAD Resource Pool Member (GRP) recognized by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) gave the talk about Gender Sensitivity. In her presentation, Ms. De Leon differentiates gender equality from gender equity. She also discussed the transition of Gender and Development to Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), which addresses different needs, perspectives, and experiences of women, men, people with disability, elderlies, ethnic minorities, and other socially excluded people in all aspects of program and policy assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation. Ms. De Leon also discussed the governing policies on children, seniors, and persons with disabilities.

Talking About Fatherhood at DOST-ITDI

As part of the celebration of Father’s Day last 19 June 2022, the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (FPS), led by Deputy Director for ATS and GAD FPS Technical Working Group (TWG) Chairperson, Dr. Zorayda V. Ang, has organized the Webinar on Paternal Care on 30 June 2022, via Zoom teleconference platform. Attended by 78 staff of the Institute, the webinar was dedicated not only to the patriarchal figures in ITDI, but also to single parents who diligently raise their own child/children and act the dual role of mother and father.

Online Echo Webinar: RA 11313 or The Safe Spaces Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulation

Led by Deputy Director for ATS and GAD TWG Chair Dr. Zorayda Ang, the ITDI GAD Secretariat conducted an echo webinar entitled "RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act and its Implementing Rules and Regulations". Held via Zoom platform in the afternoon of May 30, 2022, it was well participated by the ExeCom and personnel of ITDI.

Online GAD Training: The Law and IRR of the Safe Spaces Act

Last 1 April 2022, Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) conducted another online GAD training entitled “The Law and IRR of the Safe Spaces Act”. Five (5) GAD FPS members including the GAD FPS TWG Chairperson Dr. Ang, had attended the 3 hour training where they learnt the Implementing rules and regulations of the law, and forms of Gender-Based Sexual Harassment. 

DOST-ITDI Women's Month 2022 Culminating Activity

On 31 March 2022, DOST-ITDI ended the women’s month celebration with a mini concert. The ITDI GAD Band composed of in-house singers and band members performed various women empowerment songs to honor the women of science and their remarkable contributions in the field.

Online GAD Training: Allocation, Utilization, and Audit of GAD Budget

During the Women’s Month Celebration, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) conducted an online GAD training entitled “Allocation, Utilization, and Audit of GAD Budget (17 March 2022)”. Two (2) GAD FPS TWG members had attended the training, where they learnt about the audit of GAD budget in accordance with pertinent laws, rules, policies and guidelines set by the government.

#BreaktheBias: DOST-ITDI's stand for the 2022 International Women's Day

With the theme “#BreakTheBias”, DOST-ITDI staffs celebrated the International Women’s Day last 8 March 2022 by doing the #BreakTheBias pose. On the other hand, the ITDI Executives, led by Director Annabelle V. Briones, made their pledge video which signifies the Institutes stand to the cause.

Deputy Director Ang kicks off 2022 National Women's Month Celebration

With the theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, Deputy Director for ATS Zorayda V. Ang kicked off ITDI’s annual National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) on 1 March 2022.

As the ITDI commemorates the Women’s Month, ITDI GAD provisioned women’s month themed souvenir items (t-shirt, alcohol spray bottle, and face mask) to all ITDI employees regardless of employment status. These items was used throughout the month that signified the Institute’s adherence to the campaign.

DOST-ITDI kick-off activity 18-day campaign to end violence against women

The DOST-ITDI participated in the celebration of the 18-Day Campaign to Violence Against Women (VAW). The VAW Streamers were posted at the NML and Executive Offices Building and at the STD Building. The celebration’s highlight was on the implementation of the RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act.

ITDI GAD Strategic Planning Workshop 2021

Last 7-8 October 2021, The ITDI GFPS conducted a Strategic Planning Workshop for the ITDI GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) for 2022 that were participated by the GAD TWG members. This is the first time that strategic planning was applied to the preparation of the GPB. The TWG members revisited the Institute’s mission, vision, goals and core values.
