  • Plan and undertake research and development in the field of food processing
  • Undertake technology trnasfer of generated technologies
  • Provide technical assistance and support services to clients i.e. industry, academe, related to the division's field of expertise
  • Contribute in the planning and implementation of the institute's  programs / projects

 

FPD SECTIONS

FOOD SAFETY SECTION

- Participate in the development of foof standards to ensure the quality, safety and compretitiveness of locally processed food

- Promote the practice of GMP and HACCP in the production line for improved competitiveness of food processing SME's

 

FOOD ENGINEERING SECTION

- Undertake scale-up validation studies on developed food products / processes

- Develop equipment prototypes for scale-up production / processing

- Set up food processing facilities for Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) / Enterprise Modules (EMs) for technology transfer

 

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SECTION

- Develop new / improved process food products / processes for the export market

- Undertake research on food processing by-products utilization and application

- Develop alternative sources of food ingredients
