The Environment and Biotechnology Division (EBD) is ITDI's R&D group working on environmental concerns and specializes in applied microbiology. This division is the merger of the Environmental Division, Microbiology and Genetics Division and the Integrated Program on Cleaner Production Technologies of ITDI. It has developed considerable expertise in the management of domestic and industrial wastes generated from various sources, undertakes collaborative R & D activities with industry, government and academe, non-government organizations (NGOs), international organizations, and international agencies, undertakes R & D activities to develop new processes and novel products from indigenous raw materials. It also provides technical services for a wide range of applications in the food, energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries. Moreover, its impact on environmental protection has been increasingly felt in recent years.
